As a proud Life Member and Ruby Member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., I am excited to announce my candidacy for International Grand Epistoleus.
I have been a dedicated member of Sigma since the Spring of 2001, when I joined while studying at Mississippi Valley State University, Kappa Chi Chapter. Throughout my undergraduate years, I had the honor of serving in leadership positions such as Anti-Grammatues and Basileus. However, due to personal circumstances, I became inactive for a decade, and during that time, I deeply missed the sense of purpose and connection that Sigma provided me.
In 2016, I made the decision to reactivate and reignited my passion for Sigma. Every year since reactivating, I have taken on leadership responsibilities and committed myself to the betterment of our organization. Often times, I've served as Epistoleus, Rhoer Advisor, and Philo Advisor...SIMULTANEOUSLY.
Now, some may wonder why I ran for both an International and Regional position. The answer is simple: I am eager to continue serving Sigma in any capacity possible. Proverbs 16:3 says "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." Running for the position of International Grand Epistoleus is a decision rooted in my unwavering passion for leadership and my commitment to serving the sorority and its members. I firmly believe that I possess the necessary skills, experience, and dedication to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this role. I absolutely love the work of an Epistoleus and it is my hope to be able to continue to serve.
Having experienced the different needs and challenges within both the Southeastern Region and the International level, I am prepared to work diligently to address those needs and ensure our sorority thrives. I genuinely believe that I have a lot to offer. Regardless of the position I hold, my ultimate goal is to give the best of myself to Sigma. I am committed to being a voice for the hardworking, educator Sorors among us and to showcasing the value that our precious Life Members bring to the table.
For me, it all comes back to the basics of leadership. I firmly believe in the power of teaching, training, and mentoring others, and I am dedicated to continuing this essential work within whichever capacity I am trusted with.
I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to serve Sigma, and I kindly ask that you, my esteemed Sorors, carefully consider each candidate and decide who you believe is best prepared to lead. While the future is uncertain, I promise to make the most of our shared knowledge and work tirelessly to advance our organization.
Thank you for your consideration. I am humbled by the love I have for Sigma, the love I have received and the chance to make a difference.
In Sisterhood,
Jimeka Brown
